In this talk, we will present RealOpInsight (, a toolkit designed to enable the monitoring of business processes and services provided to end users on top of popular open source monitoring systems like Nagios, Zabbix, Zenoss, Shinken, Centreon, op5 Monitor, GroundWork, etc. The tool enables operators to have a real insight on the healthy of monitored services. Indeed, when incidents arise, the operator is able - at a glance- to evaluate their impacts on the services. Relying on a hierarchical organization of services, RealOpInsight provides advanced rules as well as powerful algorithms to aggregate and propagate the severity of incidents. Furthermore, based on Qt, it cross-platform and benefits from the powerful of an GUI application to provide useful features such as system tray notification. During the talk, we will first present the features and the architecture of RealOpInsight. Then, from basic examples, we will describe how it can help operators and administrators to prioritize incident recoveries. Finally, we’ll conclude by presenting the future of the software.

Rodrigue Chakode [1][2] holds a PhD in computing science in the area of distributed computing and cloud computing. Before his PhD during which he contributed to various open source cloud projects such as OpenNebula, he worked as Engineer in an consulting company integrating IT monitoring and backup solutions for data centers. That’s where he discovered his passion for open source monitoring.
